AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo displaces the NVIDIA Titan RTX to become the "world's most powerful GPU", but don't expect to game on it anytime soon

Shortly after Apple announced the Mac Pro desktop earlier this week, AMD said that it is introducing two new Vega 20 cards for workstation users — the Radeon Pro Vega II and the Radeon Pro Vega II Duo targeted at high-compute workloads. The Radeon Pro Vega II Duo is the world's most powerful GPU at the moment with an FP32 performance of 28.3 TFLOPs. Sadly though, this GPU is only available to the Mac Pro and it will be some time before gamers can reap the benefits of Infinity Fabric on GPUs.

Energy scarcity and rampant pollution are destroying the planet, yet some people use 500W equipment just for playing games. Go figure!

Probably that's why AMD is not selling this to gamers lol.
But on a more serious note, I'd personally like to see more research towards development of more sustainable and power-efficient technologies for gaming.

Well, modern phones are very good at providing decent gaming performance at very little power, it's just that people always want better graphics.

At any rate, gaming at 500W is not really that much power compared to keeping an old CRT on all day - a 28 inch CRT consumes about 150 Watts, and a LCD monitor consumes probably 50 Watts. If you game for 3 hours, you would use up 1650 units of power, which is equal to 11 hours of TV.

All of this is somewhat insignificant compared to to the power consumption of stuff like indoor heating/cooling or a car, anyway.

The best non-sense comparison ! You say "Radeon Pro Vega II Duo ... is the world's most powerful GPU". By "Duo" it means there's 2 GPU so it can be the most powerful GPU ! If you wanna compare, compare Titan RTX with Radeon Pro Vega II "solo", or compare "Radeon Pro Vega II Duo" with 2 Titan RTX coupled with nvlink. Doing so "Radeon Pro Vega II" is not the most powerfull GPU.
Moreover, on specific benchmark some RTX 2060 SUPER have better results. And if you wanna compare "pro" GPU, you must compare with Quadro RTX 8000 / 48GB which are far better in performance (and price too).
Final word on price : if you want the single card Radeon Pro Vega II Duo on your MacPro, you must add 6240€, if you use 2 x Titan RTX @ 24GB, you have 48GB of graphic memory, better performance and it cost less than 6000€. Useless article !

I was also going to complain as out naming the Vega Pro 2 Duo the fastest GPU.  Since it's 2 GPUs, it can be the fastest card, but it's not a single GPU.
That's what you get when the people writing the articles don't know enough about the subject.
