I got this laptop about two months ago. The one with I7-8750H and 144HZ display 16GB ram.
here are my remarks for now.
Pros:
- The display is amazing, very bright and accurate .
- Slim bezels.
- pretty fast cpu. for normal usage.
- quiet for normal usage.
- the keyboard feels good although it could be better .
- eGPU is good enough to run the big games and VR .
- SSD + HHD slots.
- easy to upgrade parts.
- the placement of the ports at the back .
- the design . you can take any where without screaming "I'm a gamer" .
- very light compared to other gaming laptops I tried.
- I like the backlit logo .
- battery life is above average .
- the price .
Cons:
- when I first used it, while gaming at high graphics Far Cry 5 and Just Cause 3. the battery drains fast even if it's plugged to AC. I checked the Lonovo website, the y530 have the same problem .
I had to install Lenovo nerve center, Lenovo Vantage . now I can game without worrying about the battery, there is a long thread on Lenovo website about the battery Issue. especially if you have a low WH power adapter. the best power adapter is 170Wh
- came with 150.54 Wh Ac adapter .
- the power adapter is very hot while gaming.
- the keys on the keyboard are not very protected, it's easy to get thing under them.
- I hate that all the ports are wired to Nvidia GPU ( USB-Type C / HDMI / Mini DisplayPort)
- no thunderbolt. (fine)
- The USB-Type C does not support Networking.
- SSD is not stable if you are going to use it as Hackintosh . so change it or use HDD if you are interested.
Conclusion:
with the correct power adapter . this laptop is a beast for its price. you can use it for gaming or just any job. very light to take anywhere.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good looking laptop that can run the big games.
