My opinion of the thermals did/does not affect the scoring of the category; it's purely mathematical, objective, based on the measurements alone.
I'm sorry you feel this way about the wording of the review; I personally felt it turned out quite well. However, at the very least, the temperatures on the bottom of the laptop while idling should be improved (or some option for better cooling provided than that offered by the Command Power Manager utility, which hardly helps); competitors such as the X1 Carbon experience no such thermal imbalances on the bottom and as such are quite a bit more comfortable to use on the lap under typical conditions.
It's an opinion, but that's why it's in the article. Not sure how familiar with our outlet you are, but a 90% overall score is actually rather phenomenal. This is a very good machine, and it was scored as such.
