Noble business beginner. The Dell Vostro is an inexpensive 15-inch laptop for smaller companies and covers all the essentials. It is also wrapped up in a nicely designed chassis. You will have to make some compromises, but we cannot find any serious issues.

I am having trouble understanding the rating here?
This Notebook is rated as 81% (Good).

But this notebook has so many flaws, that after reading the article I would have expected a "Do NOT Buy" advice.
A few minor flaws can be forgiven for a cheaper notebook but that is not the case here.

The notebook isn't cheap at 740Euro and the flaws aren't minor.
(The first flaw is enough to get a "Do NOT buy" advice in my opinion.)

1.) CPU is throttling to 1.5GHz (and gets 84°C). Not acceptable for any notebook especially, not for one with a low power (15W) CPU. (1.5GHz is Atom territory to be honest.)

2.) LCD quality is not acceptable in 2017 in a 700+Euro notebook

3.) Keyboard and touchpad quality are not acceptable for a 700+ Euro Notebook

4.) 1x1 WiFi is not acceptable for 700+Euro notebook

The only positive I noticed was that the chassis didn't suck but the rest of the results sound like a 400Euro notebook was reviewed.

I do appreciate your extensive testing very much (gives me as a buyer good information about the products) but I would have expected a more corresponding verdict with the results.

I will still keep reading your reviews though.

Hi,

This Notebook does generate a lot of heat(Idle - 45c ,Load - 85c), not advisable to use this notebook on lap.

And throttling is a serious issue in this notebook due to heating issue but once you disable the Intel speed step it wont throttle but your notebook temperature will touch more than 95c causing windows to crash(Black Screen). Then you have to long press the power button to switch off.

Not advisable to Gaming also, struck with this lap.
Even customer support is of no use.

Best website for laptop reviews, keep up guyz.

I've had this laptop for over a year now. I bought it as a portable software/document platform only, with no intentions to play 3D games on it (I have a desktop PC for that). Other qualities than high graphics performance were much more important.

With SSD (only) and no optical drive and idle clock rate around 1.2 GHz (as per my settings), it's completely cool and silent, and the battery life is decent. The screen is TN, but actually good enough for what I use it for.

Hi,
I would advice to get a different version or series. I have this laptop now and it's very bad I would rate it 0.5/10 for working or business related. Super leggy, heat and noisy as well.
The main purpose of use was for University works. But it's been hell for me I had 6 technicians changed the mother board Twice!!!! Its still the same.

So if you thinking about getting this. Reconsider.

your reviews are very detailed and covering almost all aspects of the device. however: the weak point of every notebook is the hinges between base part and display. on my daughter's computer the nuts from ALL screws fixing the hinges have come out from the plastics botom cover. it is very clear, that the plastics around those nuts is way to thin and weak. this is design-for-failure, but dell is refusing warranty insisting that it can only happen upon accident. in my opinion many will fail after so many open-close cycles. as alwas i recommend: never ever carry the computer around while the lid is open. this will drastically increase the stress on the hinges (but has never been said to be an invalid use case). fixing is very difficult, i'd say impossible.

hence: the quality and strength of the hinges should be part of your reviews. failure in that area renders the computer useless long before electronics or display are getting(//) old. this is not specific to one model, not even to dell. however, i have never seen a macbook suffering this. but they don't use plastics for the bottom part, so nuts pressed into aluminium cannot be compared with nuts in plastics. i won't by a notebook anymore, if not sure about durability of the hinges.

Still very happy with the laptop after this many years.

The performance is very decent for office, email and web using Windows 10. Extremely silent.

I still count on using it for many years as you can upgrade it from 8GB to 16GB of RAM, and add an extra SSD.

I am using it with an external monitor and keyboard, so no issues with the chassis.
