Multimedia ultrabook. The elegant purists are slowly mutating to versatile multimedia machines. Samsung's new ultrabook sports a GeForce graphics and DVD burner at a reasonable price. Is it an all-rounder or a bad compromise?

to be honest... I wouldnt call Sandy Bridge Chip 'outdated' you make it sound as if Sandy Bridge is as old as a Pentium 4 compared to Ivy Bridge.

Clock for clock, there is very little difference between the two CPUs the Ivy Bridge chip does run a little hotter due to Intel putting thermal paste under the heat shield. Otherwise 4.6Ghz IB is equal to 4.8Ghz SB - some would even go as far as to say almost negligible. A Sandy Bridge laptop is still an EXCELLENT buy just like an Ivy Bridge laptop and should not detract points from the review.

Article is confusing in that the model NP530U4C-S02CA is advertised as coming with a faster Ivy Bridge i5-3317u and a 1 Tb. HD with express cache.  This review is not relevant to this other configuration.  See http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/model/NP530U4C-S02CA-techspecs.  Must be Samsung though as Samsung's description now states it also has Win 8 when Ivy Bridge i5 did, at one time, come with Win 7.
