HDR? on a non mini led? Idk who's dumber, nintendo or the writers on this dogshit website

PCGamer

Nintendo lying again. Smartphones have had HDR displays for years. They just want to double dip and release an OLED version in a couple years so we can "upgrade". Greed has no limits with Nintendo.

Anticipation

Curious to see the exact panel that Nintendo ended up with.

One with think OLED would be the better option for HDR but I don't believe there are many VRR OLED panels of this size available, at least certainly not cheap.

MiniLED absolutely murders battery life so I don't think they went that route but perhaps that might partly explain the lacklustre battery life if they did?

I do think people are being a little harsh here. Every person in the media who has had in hand preview experience with the thing has spoken very positively about the display compared to the OG switch 1's LCD.

Doesn't seem to be like the OG steam deck LCD panel which I would categorise as truly "dogsheet".

I'm more annoyed with the fact that the charge time is still the same 3 hours. Especially with the advancements in smartphone battery tech. But I suppose it'll help with longevity so whatever.

The answer is you lmao

Coolguy

The article doesn't give enough information. Meaning Nintendo didn't give specifics of WHY. Just saying well we wanted HDR so we had to use an LCD makes absolutely no sense at all. Logic says OLED is 10x better at HDR.

LCD is worse for eyes if it has PWM for brightness control and uses Temporal Dithering for displaying colours.

Highly unlikely

Uhh, I'm not saying this is an impossible occurrence, just that I don't think I've ever gotten severe headache from an LCD. By contrast, almost every OLED has given me migraines. So I'm gonna have to agree with Ama here.

Has anyone seen Mrwhosetheboss switch 2 hands-on? In it he compares the display vs switch OLED. It seems like a very high quality LCD panel as it looked just as good if not better due to being brighter. I'm beginning to think it's a miniLED of some variant because no normal LCD IPS can be that good. And I thought the oled on the switch 1 was already pretty good.

Excuse me but what in the actual hell is this article actually saying?

WHY do Nintendo think that LCDs handle HDR better than an OLED? That makes literally no sense.

Next up, BMW decided to make a plane as their new car model as it has a better top speed. Same energy as what this writer just published.

Who wrote this article?
If Nintendo really said that they are trying to say people are dumb. Of course OLED supports HDR.
The obvious answer is that Nintendo is trying to do the same as the original Switch. In a couple of years of course they will release the OLED version so they can get more money.

Please read your article lol. Oled also have HDR. Are you an intern who wrote this article lmao 🤣.

What i really know because for maintain cheap they set lcd and vrr. Vrr actually pretty high cost to implement on oled. To cut cost they put in lcd.

But Nintendo fucking smart they put the game 90$. But comeon fucking 3D not AAA that cost so high lol
