This inexpensive laptop can do it all for students or basic office needs with its efficient processor and long battery life. If you do even a bit of graphics editing, however, then the IPS display might disappoint.

Well, there you go - "good enough" for >%90 of users right out of the box. :)

While there was a time when small & lightweight required a premium over the similarly outfitted larger 15.6" & 17" models which surely MIGHT still be the case here with a $700 asking price for an 'basic' system that ought to cost in the $300-500 range.

Sure, as many folks have moved much if not most of their 'home & personal' IT needs to their smart phone of choice, there will always be use patterns where a Laptop fits better and is easier to use then a phone or tablet.

Given this until will be transported mostly in a backpack or dedicated sleeve or case, the plastic construction reduces its weight as a full metal chassis is likely unneeded at this price point and usage class.

Not good enough, this screen is unacceptable.
It is not only people that edits photos that needs 100%sRGB. It is bad for eyes to have a panel with so low difference in tonality, plus everyone sees a video in a laptop.

It is my opinion that laptops are in peril due to this commercial behavior: TV, PC monitors. Tablets, smartphones all have much better screens than laptops. So people move to other alternatives.

I once had an opportunity to look at a 60% sRGB IPS screen on acer laptop. It felt like looking at a screen limited to maximum 256 colours, as if painted with pencils. My chinese budget laptop has a by far much pleasant to the eye IPS panel.
