The APU in question was tested in an Acer Swift, most likely a thin and light. Since this is very early data, the comparison was made using the information found in GB6 benchmark charts. Once the APU is released and tested in systems with higher thermal budgets, the improvements will become clearer.
Yes, this has nothing to do with Strix Halo, except that both of these lineups will presumably be announced at CES. It made sense to highlight what's to come from AMD for both thin and light, as well as performance systems. I don't see how that makes the article difficult to comprehend.
