Google might merge ChromeOS with Android to take on the likes of the Apple iPad. This multi-year project should help streamline engineering and provide Android developers access to even more form factors such as laptops and convertibles. These efforts could see the light of the day with the rumored Pixel Laptop that is slated to run Android instead of ChromeOS.

Prefer Android, but Apple's ecosystem is generations ahead of Android in terms of hardware, Software quality, and integration. Without some sort of gatekeeping on quality in all those areas, Android doesn't have a chance to catch the iPad's versatility and ecosystem. Android competes on price alone

laughable. care to give examples of "generations ahead"? because everything you can do on an iPad, you can do on any Android tablet. the whole "Android has no tablet apps" myth is outdated by years and doesn't hold water anymore.
