Apple has shown off its newest MacBook Pro laptops in 14-inch and 16-inch variants. They can be customized with an Apple M4, Apple M4 Pro and Apple M4 Max chip, and configured with up to 128 GB RAM and 8 TB storage.

If only they added one (JUST ONE) legacy USB port and allowed for user replaceable battery and ssd, this would be a great computer to own. Otherwise enjoy the M4/TB5 spec bump for checking social media, watching streaming services, and basic office productivity which are the use cases 90% of the people buying these overpriced, overhyped laptops that will end up in a landfill due to planned obsolescence.

Base specs are decent for the price, but the prices for upgrades are becoming ridiculous.

Additionally, the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an Apple M4 comes with a 70 Watt charger out of the box. A 96 Watt brick will cost you $20 extra. Thankfully, this restriction applies only to one model. On the flip side, all 16-inch MacBook Pro variants (M4 Pro/M4 Max) come with a 140 Watt charger out of the box.

LOL all that "ARM efficiency" and performance per watt has just been officially thrown out the window to now match pre-M-series MacBook wattage. only took 4 generations for Apple to cave and finally offer flagship performance that is still worse than Intel or AMD.
