@steemdekkin:
The issue is less about the complaining and more the people being most vocal about it being fake. Generally just doing it for clout, clicks/views or retweets. Their actions not supporting their words.
It kinda reminds me every time a person of colour in America gets murdered in cold blood or a mass school shooting happens. There will be mass riots and protests for a few days demanding justice. People doing #hashtags for unity and support. Then next week arrives, everyone forgets and it's business as usual. No systematic change, life moves on.
Just like when going from PS3 to PS4, Sony started charging for online play. Or paid dlc micro transactions / season passes started becoming increasing popular during this generation transition. People were vocal about it then too. But what ended up happening? It ended up becoming one of the best selling consoles of all times anyway, the ps4. People ate it all up.
Everyone has the right to complain yeah, but you cannot be serious that you're against fundamentalist extremism if you're voting, donating and supporting to political parties / candidates who've made it a policy to spend billions of tax payer money to fund the regimes in Saudi Arabia & arm Israel. You're gonna have to deal with the consequences if you make decisions like that. In this case it isn't me whose dealing with the consequences (I've not bought a console in over 10 years or dgpu - it's the people, who have been buying consoles and high end dgpus)
Quote from: steemdekkin on September 28, 2024, 12:44:38with the exact same generation of CPU & GPU architecture with Zen 2 & RDNA 2. These 2 architectures launched in 2019 & 2020 respectively. Compare this to the launch price of the PS4 @ 399 USD & the PS4 Pro @ 399 USD using similar architectures
The CPU is the same yeah but the GPU isn't quite the exact same. It's similar in CUs to a desktop RX 7800 XT but with lower clocks. The architecture is probably more similar to rdna3.5 but with custom ai upscaling implementation and elements of raytracing from rdna4. Rdna4 is not launching this year on pc. So technically they're offering something that rivals Nvidia now on pc and can demand that kind of pricing.
The PS4 and ps4 pro might have been similarly priced but also keep in mind that the hd 7850 and Rx 470 (desktop GPUs they were based on) were both equally cheap gpus in the $200 range. PC dgpus have become a lot more expensive since then with Rx 6700 non-XT (gpu most similar to base ps5), iirc costing around $369(?) and Rx 7800 xt (most similar to ps5 pro) costing $500+. So yeah, that's like what an almost 40% increase? Plus ps5 has a 2TB storage to account for as well too. They're definitely making decent margins from this as you said from subscriptions and such but as I said earlier the market has basically allowed this to happen via their irresponsible spending actions, despite all the crocodile tear fan fare for last several years.
