With its PaperMatte display, the MatePad 11.5S offers a special coating which, in combination with pen support, should ensure a first-class writing experience. However, the matte screen of the Huawei tablet also reveals certain weaknesses.

To me, this obsession with "paper-like" screams "lazy artist". A good artist learns their medium and how to take best advantage of it. A lazy artist wants everything to be precisely the same so they aren't surprised or have to work at anything.

And preferring "comfort", "familiarity" and "preference" over experiencing new and different is also the hallmark of a mediocre artist.

As I keep pointing out, a great artist can create great art with a beach of sand and a stick.

This like paper matte screen is a future, making mobile devices REAL mobile devices for outdoor use. Finally, after all those years with lame glossy screen reflecting each light in caffe or in park.

Matte is even worse outside than glossy.

Please explain your opinion! What aspects of visibility of the display do you consider worse?

Clarity is better so you see more useless crap including a lot of fast food content such as 80%+ of social media, random clickbait "news" articles and so on. Most of that is hidden behind reflections of the glossy display thus the glossy one is better for one's sanity and mental health, while matte is clearly worse in that aspect.

No one has to explain you anything but I will be kind this single time.
Get both and compare. Reflections on glossy vs. full screen glare and loss of contrast on matte. Better visibility on glossy. Only people who never actually tried both back to back are crying about matte.

RobertJasiek

I have always used and will always use matte on my desktop monitors. I have used glare iPads with ca. 2% reflection indoors and outdoors. Indoors I can compare and extremely prefer matte because glare has reflections. Outdoors I cannot compare for now but know the much worse reflections on the glare display so I expect matte to be extremely better with only little reflection outdoor and, for matte displays with ca. 500 nits, test photos confirm my expectation. I am aware of the impact of matte to produce diffusion and matte colours but I like both: it is similar to matte paper, which I have always liked.

I thought you had any opinion on other impacts but yours is only about aforementioned standard impacts. So nothing to possibly alter mine.

If so grab your money and bet them against my opinion by buying this tablet. You will be 2343453645th who just can't learn on others' mistakes, make sure you have a return policy when you'll get one.

And a great artist can create an even more than great art with the right tools

When you enter into a discussion, it's assumed that you will either share person ally reviewed facts that lead you to this conclusion, or explain the inferences you're making and your logic for coming to a conclusion without supporting factual evidence.

But without the ability to have a civil discourse, humans start to hate each other with sticks, so it's actually imperative that you be open to having a discussion where someone could change your mind. I guess that has to start with The civics lessons that have been taken out of most curriculums, and therefore so many people actually don't understand what a discussion actually is. Instead there is this notion out there that people can have some sort of right to say whatever they want without doing your civic duty to to find out legitimate sources, presenting verified facts and making an argument based off those facts and emotions or inflammatory rhetoric that does nothing but verifiably drive us apart.

We all have the right to any opinion we want, to voice those opinions as long as they don't hurt others, and to peaceably debate the facts and merits of opinion being put into action.

Can't wait to see mental gymnastics how matte is actually far superior over glossy now when Apple in their new M4 MacBooks offers basically a matte display for +$150 extra. And it's clearly superior over the glossy one: https://youtu.be/Sc9WByMKTG4?t=35

Only people who have not seen a quality matte screen [and such are the most expensive in the world!] do not want to deal with it, because they are comparing incomparable things: a bad matte screen with an acceptable glossy one.
But it seems that when Apple finally starts to move in this direction after many years [Apple Pro Display XDR and +$1k = matte monitor],  it should somewhat quell these unfounded thoughts.

"Glossy=better" - this was the first fashion introduced by marketers. Because matte with the same characteristics as glossy is always significantly more expensive.
