For years, creative users and entertainment fans have had a blast on the iPad Pro, and now Apple presents an update: The 11-inch model is getting slimmer and is supposed to offer more battery life and performance. OLED is now used as the display technology. We take a detailed look at the innovations.

Hello, thank you for your review. Is the display on the 11 inch 2024 iPad a 10 bit or an 8 bit display? Thank you.

Imagine if Apple put  money on developing iPadOS instead of putting in iPad SoC that is big overkill given how limited operating system is.

...dreaming...

The functionality and security of Windows, Linux and MacOS combined with the simplicity iOS / iPadOS were advertised to be and the privacy of Windows XP / 7 and Linux.

...end of dreaming...

I mean, this is what should be possible for an amount of money spent on OS instead of hardware development.

It can do anything? Show me running proper multitasking like a low end android mobile. Shownme running full size softwares like windows tablets. Show playing aaa games and working on full size pro appliances

For context, I'm typing this on the M4 iPad Pro, and I've used a bunch of android tablets, windows 2 in 1s.

Stage Manager lets you use a desktop-like window manager (same as macOS's stage manager, actually) and run multiple apps at the same time - 4 huge games simultaneously, if you will, and many more sets of these!

Full size software? Does desktop DaVinci resolve, octane x, full photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, etc cut it?

AAA games? How's Call of Duty Warzone running at 3k and 120 FPS at desktop quality settings that no other mobile device can handle this well? Genshin Impact at 120 FPS? Wreckfest at max settings and 120 FPS? Assassins Creed Mirage? Alien Isolation? Some new Resident Evil games? Death Stranding?

Imagine if people who make such statements actually took the time to understand what the iPad is, why it exists, and how to use it as it is to accomplish things they claim it can't do — we would all be spared from this endless stream of nonsensical comments.

Question About PWM as tested...

It is stated that the PWM is 240Hz in this review. But it isn't clear in the article at which brightness setting.
The images state at 50% the PWM is 546KHz and at 75% it is 239KHz, and at 100% brightness it is 482KHz.
So are yo referring to the75% brightness when stating the screen flickers at 240Khz?

Thank you.

Since you know it all, please explain some basics:

- How to permanently disable the microphone button of the regular on-screen keyboard instead of always having to click "Not Now"?

- How to permanently reject popups asking for acceptance of the iCloud terms instead of always having to click "Not Now"?

- How to update iPadOS via WLAN while rejecting the iCloud terms?

- If, say, 1 GB storage is free, how to use only one command to transfer, say, 2 GB of many small files via the Files app, SMB and USB to a Windows PC? That is, how to avoid the Files app's attempt to duplicate all the files before transferring them and failure due to insufficient storage?

- Without factory-resetting i(Pad)OS, how to delete a file in the Files app that it refuses to delete by not offering the Delete command?

- Within iPadOS itself, how to create multiple users and file / folder access rights for each of them?

- Within iPadOS itself, how to set and enforce rules preventing execution of particular softwares for particular users?

- Within iPadOS itself, how to recursively batch process file commands on all files of an arbitrary file type also in all subfolders?

That PWM flickering display is a huge step backwards. I hope macbooks don't suffer the same destiny.

As you noted, PWM changes with different brightness settings and therefore we used the most hurtful frequency of 240 KHz.
