According to a new report, Dell will overhaul its XPS laptop series at CES 2024 in January. While the company plans to renew the XPS 13 and XPS 13 Plus, it will discard the XPS 15 and XPS 17. Instead, new XPS 14 and XPS 16 models are in the works, all with Intel Meteor Lake processors.

Unless MTL really has as good efficiency as AMD, AND the 14" doesn't get any silly compromise (i.e. make it somewhat competitive with 14" gaming laptops), I don't see the appeal unfortunately.

Its quite a shame Dell... Clearly they can make laptops. Clearly they can make them good. The real problems start because they're not great.

If you've ever tried an XPS you'll see... They all win world's worst webcam award. Their trackpads are a single $0.20 button, so the whole pad flexes in the corners and can only be tapped from the bottom half.

Cost cutting... On the trackpad.

Dude, you bought a Dell :(

The 17" gave them good thermals, great battery with the FHD+ screen (no font scaling garbage and pushing extra pixels) and at least set them apart from Apple and the glossy screens. They already copied to too shallow keyboard.

Oh look Dell has finally decided to copy Apple sizes. I don't see the point. Already bezeless 15.6" laptop is size of old 14" laptops and the 17" is size of old 16".

Still it's a moot point as Dell XPS now sucks. They are crap compared to pre 2016. You used to be able to configure the entire laptop including NIC's and the quality was good. High prices, pathetic configs and lower quality. Dell is down there with HP now.

EHM,.... technically Thinkpads are 14" since 2010 and 16" since 2017.... I think it has more todo with display manufactures pushing 14" display... just look at the 90hz oled from samsung only in 14". Think new oled panels are also only 16" and 14"

The XPS 13 3 years ago was the worst tech purchase I've made in my entire life. I never owned such a bad product. How a modern laptop could be so slow was unbelievable to me. Now they're making them even smaller and throwing in the dGPU, genius, make is throttle more, might as well go back to the stone ages in terms of performance, for real, wtf Dell.

The Flow X13 exists, but I don't think Dell can exceed or match that unless Meteor Lake is significantly more efficient (assuming it even gets it and not just Raptor Lake refreshed)

Mr n - Until OLED can solve headache inducing/eye-strain PWM frequency problems and extra power consumption, laptop manufacturers should not be using them. Dell XPS already has the best FHD+ 15.6" & 17" non-gaming panels available.

Andreas - if you want a highly undervolted XPS 9510 that has 20 hrs idle & can stream Pandora on Edge for > 13 hours, find me on Reddit and send a message. At 23 W, get 10 min CB R23 score of 7525 compared to 65XX for Lenovo 14" 1360P. 'The XPS that Dell & Intel Should Have Made" The problem wasn't the XPS. Problem was Dell/Intel power profiles relative to cooling capacity.

Yeshy - Flow X13 is Asus not Dell. Whatever processor Asus has available, Dell also has a choice of. Dell had a business 2-in-1 tablet. Unsure if they still make it.

I am aware. I am just saying that Asus did something so Dell should be able to compete.

Flow X13 is proof you can put a dGPU into 13" laptop and still be at least half-decent. ~70W combined is pretty good.

Agree with all of this (except that HP are better value and quality than Dell these days IMHO) and most of the other disparaging remarks posted by users on here. Dell is losing market share faster than any of its competitors and it's easy to see why.
Quality poor, value awful, support criminally bad. Obvious flaws endure year after year. Basket case of a brand. Avoid.

It's just a luck you were able to -100mV it though.

Does your opinion include Alienware and, if so, why, please?
