Was never a big fan of Linus. There was always something about him that I found unlikeable. Came off inauthentic and just lots of superficial things about him I found personally irritating. However, I did watch LMG content if the subject matter interested me, but more for entertainment value than for any objective journalism.
So, it will be interesting to see the long term implications of all this since Linus has been tremendously benefiting from the cult of personality and this altruistic, nerd-chic, techie persona his fanbase has given him when in reality he's nothing more than an youtube influencer peddling his brand for monetized clicks and likes.
You can be disappointed in your idols, but at the end of the day, they're still human like the rest of us and when you put them on a pedestal, there's no where for them to go but down. Hopefully, Linus and LMG learn from these highly publicized mistakes and evolve into a better media company.
