Ford is looking to make electric vehicles cheaper by using the more affordable LFP battery chemistry that Tesla equips its standard-range Model 3 and Model Y with, but will built the cells itself in a new factory in Michigan. This way Ford will also benefit from the federal subsidies for made-in-US batteries, driving down the price even further.
