Well again - what's the point of testing a laptop in single-channel mode? Not a single owner, except for those who are very alternatively gifted, will use it in this form from the store, but will immediately buy another 16GB.
Again, it is clear that HP could squeeze more out of the processor, because. there is only one heat pipe and one cooler, but there is an option with 2 coolers and 2 heat pipes if there is a discrete video chip, as in the G8 850.
C 6850, in principle, it's not bad, but considering the price, it could have been better, although it certainly added weight. Although the noise is insignificant, but still in a quiet room it was possible to achieve no more than 26dB by conjuring over the cooling system .. as it seems to me. Well, the same liquid metal as thermal paste, at least. Is it not there?
The screen is terrible. In such a series, it simply has to be 4k@120Hz (auto switch to 60Hz from battery), at least with a 10ms response from psu. And of course without low-frequency PWM.
This is one of the few laptops on the market that surprisingly has dual power from a round corner connector (in right side), extremely durable and from usb-c - but on the left, which is useful only for left-handers, but right-handers are not offended here ... that's just the trouble - in the kit in most countries, it comes with a power supply with usb-c jack, and usb-c is extremely inconvenient for right-handed people, of which 90% of the population in the world. Are the marketers and developers at HP aware of this? Moreover, it is much easier to buy a usb-c GaN charger today than in a number of countries to prove an ordinary branded (genuine) PSU with a round connector for right-handed people, so that they can lie down with a laptop on the couch without worrying about the battery charge and at full SoC power.. Well, in general, not bad it would be a PSU with a tight adapter for a regular angular round connector from usb-c variant, at least to have it in the kit...
Well, if you look closely - the space in the case is not used sparingly for such a series - it was quite possible to add a second M.2 2280 so as not to suffer with the replacement if there is not enough capacity of the factory SSD.
And the authors of the reviews - please do a test for linear write SSD outside the SLC cache (for example, in AIDA64, which you already use, though it's better to use the version before 4.7 - the write algorithm is more correct and faster there) to understand sustained write speed. Because those results that are laid out clearly do not correspond to typical speeds outside the SLC cache.
But just like the G8/G9 45x, this whole line is spoiled by a completely inadequate and idiotic keyboard with a power button next to the backspace! HP engineers, what are you smoking? Stop this business series madness immediately! HP marketers are you crazy in the business model to put such crap instead of a keyboard? Do you feel sorry for the extra $5 cost for a separate power button outside the keyboard, as it always was before?! Do not disgrace! Do not disgrace! At least make it on the side - there is a lot of free space!
And that the buttons Esc, F1..F12 are wider in height to make the religion does not allow, or what?
And damn it, turn on the backlight with Fn+Space, like Lenovo does - it's much more comfortable than reaching up to Fn+F9. I hope Lenovo doesn't have a patent for this yet?
The author did not write anything about controlling the backlight of the keyboard, but I hope it can turn off according to a custom timer in bios and a utility integrated into the Windows Mobile Center, as it was done in normal laptops a long time ago...
