The tester writes complete nonsense about HDMI ports and DP Alt Mode (in usb-c). First, the HDMI 2.1b standard does not exist in nature. And 2.1 here is most likely a fake - the port almost certainly does not support 48Gb/s mode. Secondly, the Display Port 2.1 standard does not exist in nature, and today Intel does not have it (DP2.0) in hardware in the Alder Lake series. Their statements about the support of 8k monitors are a blatant deception of the buyers of its hardware, because. a full-fledged 8k@60Hz, even in a poor 24-bit color mode, requires about 60 Gb/s, and two ddi lanes inside Alder Lake processors, even paired, cannot give out that much that banwidth. So there was no support for DP2.0 and never will be. Regular DP 1.4b and most likely HDMI 2.0b (14.4Gbps data max, instead of 42Gbps for real 2.1) which formally supports 2.1 extensions in data packets regardless of bandwidth support.
The reviewer goes on to assure the unsophisticated public that HP has "managed to unleash the potential of the 1255U". But this is also not true. It is clearly seen that the SoC could raise the level of PL1 to 20-22W, and PL2 to 55W (as Intel promises to the fullest), because. the cooling system, even at a load of 33W, allegedly makes noise only at 28dB(A?) although 31-32 is quite tolerable for most consumers. HP could add another heat pipe by increasing the weight by 100-150g and set PL1/PL2 too high. Because of this, the processor does not reach 1100-1200 points in Cinebench R15 (although I already wrote that laptop manufacturers and Intel are clearly cheating with it test), to at least the level of the i7 H series of 2018, but it's time to ...
In general, everything is determined by the price. But at this price, no one will buy it. This series has been waiting for buyers on the shelves in our local stores for months for G7/G8 series and G9 too. The overall quality of the laptop, keyboard, battery life, processor speed and especially the poor screen is beyond criticism given vs. asking price. If it cost 30% lower - no question, maybe somewhere would have bought G9...
Well, it's ridiculous not to bring the built-in TB4.0 2 ports out in 2022...this is just a natural covetousness from HP (and other laptop makers), especially for such a wild price!
