Tesla to recall 130,000 Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model Y and Model X vehicles because of overheating AMD Ryzen processors

Tesla is having to recall 130,000 of its vehicles to address an issue that forces their touchscreens to work improperly. Apparently, the cause of the issue is AMD's Ryzen APU, which features integrated RDNA 2 graphics. While modern Tesla's may match the performance of a Sony PlayStation 5, they cannot adequately dissipate waste heat.

AMD have a lower TDP, is all design/thermal dissipation issue.

But is your attempt to troll is admirable, if only I didn't laugh at you from my advanced EE understanding of why it impacts charge carrier frequency response and mean transition time between channels for GaAs and Si semiconductor materials and why this is a fundamental issue to begin with any asic chips(CPU/APU).

ARM processors > AMD > Intel

Actually Tesla requires even more efficient but powerful CPU. Their choice for AMD was good but here it seems they truly need an ARM CPU, like that of Apple M series.

Why would a car crash while fast charging??

The fact that it can happen at all demonstrates that there is a problem. Who can guarantee that it can't happen in other circumstances? After all, it's quite unlikely connection. Who would have thought that charging a vehicle can affect cooling of the infotainment system to the point that it stops responding? Even mentioning throttling is worrying given that it serves as a driver's display.

Normally, infotainment can freeze and give you all sorts of trouble and authorities don't care that much. But driver's display is a different story. That thing has to display real-time information no matter what. If you merge them, you have to follow the stricter requirements. Personally, I think that one should be able to drive a car safely without any instrumentation. But when you have important controls on a touchscreen and the touchscreen can stop responding, that is a problem.

For mulitcore you want amd, for single core programs you want Intel.

Intel is faster with core but slower with mulit core programs.

As for cpu or any. You really need a way to get rid of the heat. Maybe a aio car version. That cpu is going to get toasty

Any action from a vehicle manufacturer to modify a vehicle to resolve a defect is a recall. The fact that Tesla can address this recall using an over-the-air software update is completely separate.

Man we should put video games in cars and put in a Ryzen processor but not cool them properly.

A car is a car, if you want gaming why not just play on your steam deck when parked? It won't let you play when driving anyway. Also yeah their implementation is flawed, why not just support direct screen mirroring? Saves power, reduces price by allowing them to use ARM, makes it easier since you don't need to sign in on so many devices.
