Sources familiar with the matter have told Reuters that Huawei is planning to sell the Huawei P and Huawei Mate line of smartphones to a consortium of investors affiliated with the Shanghai Government. Huawei has denied said report and states that it has no plans of selling any more of its assets.

Looks like the US doesn't ban all state owned entities in China, though that shouldn't come as a surprise.

This is all smokes and mirrors..It would still be controlled by the c-c-p from behind the scenes.
In the end, 'its' the consumers who have to look after themselves and avoid any rebranded/ renamed Huawei product, if they wish to save themselves..

Now Huawei will first deny this report and then eventually sell the series' in 2 weeks time..lol just like they did with their Honor line

They're not even trying hard to hide that. Of course they're not actively advertising it so the poor brainwashed Chinese jingoists will still automatically assume that these are completely innocent "private" companies but it takes very little digging to see that they'd now be controlled by the CCP through an even more direct manner.
