Without any noticeable problems on my handset after a few days of use, Android 11-based crDroid 7.2 proves to be an almost perfect choice for those who want to keep around the Xiaomi Mi A1 for at least another year or two without making any compromises in terms of security and capabilities.

How exposed am I to security risks if I still run this phone with Android 9?
Quite exposed? It's not all about security risks, but you also miss on Dirac Sound, aptX support, improved efficiency, freedom.

The crDroid project makes quite nice LOS based ROMs, good choice!
It is still the early days of Android 11 for the Mi A1, but I'm sure that this phone will get the official LOS 18.1 -- that is the "gold standard" for stability, albeit not features.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Well, until LineageOS brings Android 11 to the Mi A1, everyone should be more than happy with crDroid. I am thinking about selling mine or taking it to a mobile service to get the battery replaced and the power button fixed (it barely works). Other than these two problems, my Mi A1 is in pristine condition.
