We have received exclusive information from our OEM sources about upcoming Intel Tiger Lake-H, Alder Lake-P, and Alder Lake-S processors. While Tiger Lake-H will be based on Willow Cove, Alder Lake-P and S will feature a hybrid Golden Cove and Gracemont architecture. Alder Lake will also be the first to bring DDR5-4400 RAM, AV1 accelerated encode, GNA 3.0, Wi-Fi 6E, and PCIe Gen5 support along with new security extensions.

DG2 has nothing to do with with integrated graphics of ADL! DG2 is a dedicated graphics based on Xe HPG while the ADL graphics is a 32 EU version derivated from Xe LP, basically a GT1 version of it.

Furthermore AVI in the table, I guess it should mean AV1??? And why dual AV1 encoder on TGL-H and just AV1 accelerated encode on ADL? Did you mean the HEVC dual encoder for TGL-H? If there is a AV1 encoder on TGL-H I'm expecting it for ADL as well.

And lastly, DDR5-4400? Are you sure it's not DDR5-5400? This is lower than expected if it's a 1DPC specification.

Alder Lake-S BGA

So this is the mobile version of ADL-S. It should be the same for the desktop version, even though the DDR5 speeds could differ.

Well, actually there were reports that DG2 derived from Xe HPG will feature in ADL-P. That is just a likelihood and has been indicated as such.

Yes. It should be AV1 and not AVI. Thanks for spotting. :) I had a doubt with the encoder part too. I am guessing it might still be early or yet-to-be-finalized information. We should hopefully get to know more concrete info soon.

The DDR5-4400 part is correct. We have earlier reported on Micron demoing it as well (https://www.notebookcheck.net/DDR5-4400-RAM-modules-demoed-by-Cadence-and-Micron-DDR5-6400-coming-soon.301944.0.html)

I don't think there was such a report or at least not a serious one. So what report do you mean? DG2 is Intels dedicated graphics project which is unrelated to Intels iGPU. 32 EUs means Xe LP GT1 and 96 EUs means Xe LP GT2. Probably the same as Tigerlake GT1/GT2, only the media and display unit could differ from Tigerlake.

Ah wait. You may be right. Sorry, I was looking at Uniko's leak from last month and mistook the DG2 to be coming in an iGPU variant as well apart from the dGPU option. My bad. Article has been corrected. Thank you for the feedback :)

Sounds very promising, specially the pcie 5 part.

Any idea around which time Alder Lake for Mobile might happen ?

 Xe-HPG is their first GPU to support hardware ray tracing.   It is being built at an external fab.

The Xe-HP GPUs, Sapphire Rapids server chips and Alder Lake-S are all listed as using the new 10 ESF process in a recent anandtech article by Dr.  Cutress.

Sapphire Rapids and Xe-HP were both stated to be in the lab at Hotchips last month.  No such info on Alder Lake-S.   Intel did give a brief demo of  a 4 tile Xe-HP chip doing 42 TFlops FP32, so it seems their tiled architecture scaling is no joke.

It's DDR4-4400, but LPDDR5-5400. The former is for larger laptops and desktops while the latter will be for Ultrabooks.

Very doubtful, because of the AV1 Encoder mention. Those are still in standalone FPGA form, we're most probably not getting those integrated into CPU's, not to mention mobile chips, in 2021.

The PCIE5 sounds like it would imply a big jump in thermal issues with double clock rate vs PCIE4. 

However, Intel put their CPU, an AMD GPU and HBM in the same package on Kaby Lake-G, connecting CPU and GPU via a PCIE bus.

Is it possible we could see a similar bundle of GPU and CPU and VRAM offered with  Alder Lake? 

Has anyone  seen an explanation for the extra 500 pins on the new socket?

At least on the desktop side, I'd hazard a guess that the new socket is made with PCIe 5 requirements in mind.
