Intel Core i7-1185G7 in Review - First Tiger Lake Benchmarks

Intel gave us the opportunity to check the new high-end CPU for slim notebooks. Intel's new Tiger Lake chip uses a new and more powerful integrated graphics card, so the gap to AMD can be closed. We have a closer look at a development laptop from Intel and test the capabilities of the new chip in numerous benchmarks and with different TDP configurations.

Haha, presstitute journalism again! So in most benchmarks 1050 Max-q is more than twice as fast as the xe graphics, but you still cherry pick Witcher and say that Xe is similar to 1050 and makes basic dGPUs obsolete?
Also, with such high power consumption limits, the real competition is the i5-10300H, and you can clearly see no performance increase whatsoever.

Did you literally read that one line and ignore all the other words? It is stated that Xe = 1050 Max-Q ONLY in witcher 3, whereas in other games MX350 beats Xe.

As for power consumption, 10300H is 45W sustained whereas TGL is 28W sustained. Even at 15W TGL still shows good single core performance increase. What are you talking about?

Sometimes I wonder if we're even reading the same article.

10nm 4c8t just can't compete with 6-8 cores and will fall far behind in productivity tasks.
GPU performance in between MX350 and MX450 is irrelevant because MX450 is worse than 3yo GTX 1050 trash and GTX 1050 is sooooooo bad for gaming. Also, shared DDR4 GPU ram? Custom drivers?
Honestly, Intel should give us those 4x PCIe lanes Thunderbolt or GTFO from the upper laptops segment.

Expect AMD fanboys to show up soon and systematically trash Intel whole day

May AMD fanboys enjoy running multicores Cinebench whole day whole week whole year

As well as what Artemis said - you realise NBC also use TW3 as a "standard" gaming bench for like, basically game-capable laptop? If they're whoring themselves out to anyone, it's CDPR, not any particular CPU vendor  ;)

Why is Intel allowed to have scores in the 28 watt range, yet AMD's 4800U isn't allowed to report scores in the 25 watt range?

Why this one sided journalism?

You wonder why people think you're bought off, yet Hardware UnBoxed showed the full range of Power Modes, yet you couldn't be arsed to do so for "Like vs Like" comparison?

STOP45%NTSC

where's the 15w tests? How does it compare against a 15w AMD ryzen 4500u, 4600u, 4700u and 4800u?

And if intel fucking never releases a tiger lake H, then this is bullshit

Even if intel releases tiger lake H, they should at least use UHD graphiks with 8 cores standard, cause if they use Xe, it takes up CPU space = quad cores and quad cores suk.

sigh

Notebookcheck included the 4800U Yoga that pulls 50W on the entire system in the charts. Why are you whining?

Patrick66

So this is an U chip that means that it will get around 15-18w in an chassi like the thinkpad t14s, it could get 50w+ for a few seconds but in an thin and light thermal soon kicks in. Lets compare blender! At 15w the intel finishes at 745 seconds wait what? At 18w in the t14s it finishes in 367 seconds. Unfair you say becuse the amd has 3 more watts, lets the tie the arms of the amd cpu buy giving intel 28w. hmm 545 seconds hmm still not working. Okay tie the arms and legs and give intel 35w, 513 seconds still not working. If they would just have given it 60w I´m sure it would have been equal.

Actually, IIRC, it said that it can beat MX350 and can be closer to MX450, but not always. It could be because the drivers aren't optimized for that game (Nvidia definitely has an edge in the driver department). But you could also simply be memory bound. One advantage of a dedicated GPU is dedicated VRAM.

Have you actually looked? Scores for the 15 W configuration are in most tests. At least I saw them there.

As per NBC news, 45 W TGL-H CPUs should have 32 execution units rather than 96. I guess that's "G1." 35 W TGL-H, which should be only available as 4 core, should have 96 execution units.

Tomshardware has also tested this at 15W, and then the results are simply incremental over previous 15w 4c/8t designs from intel. The GPU performance is just behind Renoir at that power, so at least that is an improvement. When you run this at 28W or higher, you are in the envelope of higher TDP CPUs. Try running 10300H at the same envelope and then you see that Tiger Lake is not impressive at all.

Funny how there are comments that call you an AMD fanboy if you believe the review is biased. Pity you don't have data to back it up. NBC won't stop whoring up. Wish you a pleasant day.
