An HP Pavilion 17 just did cooling and fan noise better than an MSI

HP just beat MSI at its own game. If you're in the market for an entry-level gaming machine, the Pavilion Gaming 17 costs about the same as the MSI GF75 and yet it offers faster gaming performance at measurably quieter and cooler temperatures overall.

Well regardless, my MSI gaming laptop just failed and after taking it apart, I concluded not to buy MSI laptops anymore... their design is RIDICULOUS!

Everything from needing to disassemble the entire laptop to access the primary ram slots to even needing to take apart the entire thing just to access the CMOS battery. They like literally put the CMOS battery on 1 side of the motherboard and the connector on the opposite side of the motherboard!

I understand designing a gaming laptop takes a lot of work and easier than say my work laptop (HP Zbook 14 which is beautifully designed and everything is easy to access, I can virtually swap most components in 5 minutes). But MSI seems to go out of their way to make it more difficult to service their computers.

On a side note, I really wish gaming motherboards in laptops do what gaming motherboards in desktops do and include an debug lcd for dealing with issues. I know for sure my laptop can be fixed because it turns on than shuts off, that usually means some component failed but the motherboard is probably okay. But now I either have to spend a bunch of time debugging, buy a debug board which may or may not work or buy a new laptop.

But yea, the budget-MSI heatpipes look nothing like muscle-5GHz-crazyexpensive-MSI ones.

I considered this site dependable did not realize they made such shitty misleading content how can you compare laptops ic completely different gpu classes. 1660 ti is supposed to be twice as fast as 1650. And if you want slim laptop for daily backpack carry half a kilo just in laptop weight is important if you don't consider HP's much needed larger brick which makes it even heavier. What can I say just hope this bullshit does not spread to their argumented and in depth tested reviews

MSI spruiking their cooling abilities after the NBC review showed that the machine ran at 60+dB. lol

You are surprised that a laptop with 500 gramms more weight can be cooler? Me not and you shouldn't either. With almost same battery size you can be sure that the hp has much more copper in it what makes a big difference in weight and of course cooling capacity. There is no 1660ti version of the gf75 because the. Cooling is is just not made for it. Weight is the highest priority for this machine.
