New leaked slides show that the Comet Lake-S desktop CPUs are scheduled to replace the current gen 9 Coffee Lake-R models in early 2020. Intel will release a new 400-series chipset to support the upcoming CPUs that come with up to 10 cores / 20 threads and TDPs of up to 125 W. Unfortunately these will not be compatible with current motherboards, as the slides reveal the necessity of a new LGA 1200 socket.

So its recycled 14nm overclocked stuff again which requires yet another new motherboard which again consumes more power for probably the same performance or slightly worse than the previous gen?

Yawn... how you insult consumers, Intel!

Once AMD's latest starts to impact the markets (and it will), that "early 2020" timeline is going to shift to "do it now".

New socket may last for one generation later as it appears Intel is keeping 2 generations on the same socket where possible.
