Performance at all costs. Aorus is one of the first manufacturers to fuse two GeForce GTX 970M cards to a SLI array. Not only the performance, but also the waste heat is correspondingly high. Can the slim 17-inch chassis deal with this load?

Is the X7 Pro also made of aluminum? What external areas/parts are metalic? Is it the same as the Aorus X7 v2?

I'm very happy with my unit. The use of metal instead of offensive plastic for the display's rear hood and the upper panel deck surrounding the keyboard was a very pleasant surprise indeed.

I have my unit running very cool by 'both' placing the unit on a cool pad and more importantly when locking games frame rates to 60 fps because most 42 inch and above external LED monitor displays can only accept 60 Hz through HDMI anyway and one would be silly not to do this. After all why have GPU's generating more heat than necessary while trying to produce 100+ fps if the external display can only output 60 fps (from display's 60 Hz restriction). Also the Aorus X7 Pro's built in display is only 60 Hz.

Naturally to output above 60 fps to an external display that supports 120 Hz native refresh, then you'll have to use the Aorus X7 Pro's Mini Display Port v1.2 which can handle 120Hz up to 1080p. Problem with this is that external native 120Hz monitors only appear to go up to 27 inch which I find too small (42 inch is my minimum preference and that is starting to look small at the end of my large desk).

All in all a truly incredible gaming laptop, however I would like to see the following in the next updated model (X7 Pro v4?) which I would have liked to see in this one:-

HDMI v2.0   (not the current very limited v1.4)
Mini Display Port v1.3   (not the current v1.2)
GTX 980M SLI with 8GB VRAM each   (or at the absolute least, increase the GTX 970M SLI VRAM from the low 3GB fitted to the higher 6GB each spec)
