Not sure what all the excitement is surrounding this laptop. It's even lighter at 1.7 kg than the MBP 15, xps 9570, ideapad 720s 15, zenbook pro 15, gs65 and aero 15x v8. Meaning it's going to have even worse thermals than them and they all have thermal issues already.
Being a business laptop I suspect it'll be not very loud but it'll probably throttle heavily and/or run hot.
On the bright side, for many, even with all that throttling it's still probably faster than a T480 w/ mx150 or the vast majority of 8th ULV cpu + mx150 laptops. (which for many might just be enough)
This could possibly make an interesting article. Comparing performance between a laptop with a 45w HQ cpu + gtx 1050 which heavily throttles and has poor thermals / cooling solution vs another laptop with a 15w U-series cpu + mx150 but has great cooling / no throttling and allows tdp unlocking / overclocking.
Would be interesting to see how much of a gap or performance delta there is between such two laptops.
Also, at this point, I'm not even sure one can blame OEMs anymore for all the throttling. It seems like every laptop throttles these days, almost like it is Intel problem and that they're just flat out lying about the true specs and capabilities of their cpus. Maybe this is what happens when there is a lack of competition?
