That protruding rear is really ugly and out of place.  It seems like there is still vertical room inside the chassis anyway, so there really isn't a need for that big butt.

I'd like to add that Lenovo's 3 year warranty is about $236 less than Razer's 3 year warranty and they also provide a much larger discount if you are a student, teacher, over 50 years old, or military. I've been eyeing the Razer for a while but you guys just recently ranked it at 88% and it seems the y740 is going to sweep the table with only 2 percentage points behind yet approximately $300-$500 off if you or someone you know qualifies for the discount........

The new 16.1" screen SAGER/CLEVO (P90 series I think) is cheaper than the Lenovo, build quality aside it's still cheaper.
Still the Lenovo looks pretty good.

People on the forums claim that there is Hybrid mode, namely GPU switching can be activated. Have you tried it? If you did, was the battery life still poor?
If it is possible, please update the review, because it is misleading.

Does it suffer Inverse Ghosting just like ASUS GL703GS, with the same AUO B173HAN03.2 panel?

Hey,
I bought the same laptop and i dont have any ghosting , but i do have bleeding in some corners nothing too bad. This laptop is a solid gaming machine and a little cheaper than the competition. The cpu i can confirm that is running a little higher with the temperatures, you will need a cooler/stand for it.

The Laptop also works with 64gb ram = 2x32 GB RAM. There is currently only one 32gb non ECC sodimm available: Samsung M471A4G43MB1-CTD
This one works. I tested it with the current bios version. In general the Laptop stays cool and silent for CPU computing intensive tasks so its worth considering buying it for data science Jobs.

I own an older Lenovo laptop (y50-70 with a Gtx 860m) and that had given me perfect service for years, so when it came time for an upgrade I thought of Lenovo again. I was looking at the higher-end laptops, but found a Legion 740 17in' on sale. $2,000 for a 2080-MaxQ is a bargain and I went for it.

I have been with this laptop now for at least a month and I am truly impressed. While it may not be an Alienware or a ROG, it is no slouch. It works like a charm, remains cool under heavy gaming, and you get used to keyboard fairly quickly.

The Cons:
1) If you need a laptop for playing on battery power, do not go for this laptop. I have it plugged in all the time, but the few times I have taken it off the battery, I can perhaps get 30mins of heavy gaming. I haven't tried browsing or light tasks, but cannot imagine it would break or go above 60 mins.
2) It does become noisy when the fans kick-in when under heavy gaming. I usually have headphones, so I am not too bothered, but for someone who wont be using headphones it can become a bit distracting.
3) There is minor backlight bleed on the panel I got - nothing excessive. I have seen worse elsewhere, but it is there.
4) The power-brick is huge. No, really, it is huge. Not something I would be happy to carry around.

The Pros:
1) It does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a beast of a gaming machine, with no fps spikes in any game I have played.
2) You can play on high or ultra settings without any issues, including overheating.
3) The 144Hz panel is a joy to play on. Apart from the minor backlight (see above) I think this panel is really good. The colours pop out and the gameplay is smooth. I have seen no noticeable brightness issues.
4) The build is sturdy. It has a nice finish;
5) I really like having a numpad.
6) There are no heating issues thus far.
7) RGB all over (but since I am not a RGB person, I have placed it at the end).

If you are looking for a solid laptop, which will remain plugged in for most of the time, you cannot go wrong with this beast of a laptop, especially if you find one on sale like I did.
