Pretty sure one reason Microsoft would be excited about these is they could be a way for them to make a closed system. Intel-based systems still have the tradition of the BIOS and boot options, so people install Linux and other operating systems. Thinkpads are especially good for this. Even people who don't care about Linux (eg non-developers) should want to preserve this, since it means more openness and competition.

+ good build quality, touchpad and touchscreen input
+ lightweight for a 2 in 1

- near identical power draw as cTDP U-CPU
- meagre ports limited by ARM board
- sluggish SSD worse than SATA3, a major bottleneck (4K random suffers)
- decent, but not great hardware (screen, keyboard and speakers)
- not yet x64 program compatible
- no repairability or expandability
- $900 USD. I mean really, I'd pay $500 for this when they fully fix the software compatibility.

The fact is, if I wanted a portable laptop with 12+ hrs battery life, LTE and pen, I can buy T450s FHD touch for only $300 and still manage better performance.
