Das Essential Phone ist neben den Google-Geräten eines der wenigen Smartphones auf denen jetzt schon Android 8.1 Oreo läuft. Nur wenige Tage nach der Veröffentlichung des April Security Bulletin zieht Essential nach und stellt den Sicherheitspatch für sein PH-1 zur Verfügung.
