Close, but not quite. We were happy to learn that the Iris graphics card is awake and alert despite SoC throttling. The Microsoft Suface Pro (2017) cannot be considered a "gamer" however, nor is it a full a laptop replacement: Just like in the i5 version, there is significant throttling.

Great to see a comparison between i5 and i7 Surafce Pro's - do you intend to review the i3 model as well? Thanks

the iris 640 are somewhat slower then dGPU 940mx 1GB DDR5.

if 3dmark 16 is what called fire strike scores under gpu-sum'on ranking, it comes in  around1400 in the review.

getting 2157 fire strike on 940 dGPU so thats still +50% more like iGPU Iris 640
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/13187892
and on geek4 compu tests im getting 33.021 on 940mx (AB score) and 16.095 on the iGPU HD520.
all in all not to shabby for an 600usd el cheapo xiaomi laptop packing dGPU and nvme pm961 and 8GB DDR4.
btw any reason why you have removed the fps scores on cinebench R15??

Nice to see the performance gain from bigger capacity on the PM971. Though the battery seems to be taking quite a hit from this system combo. Really wish they had a 1080p screen option to make up for that and for many other reasons.

Seems like a small difference, but I'm choosing between a handful of convertibles, and weight is a large issue for me. The weight for the unit cited in this review is exactly the same as the one cited in the review of the i-5 model, despite the fact that the i-7 tested has a larger SSD.

Both model weights are significantly higher than the ones on the MS website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/devices/surface-pro/tech-specs)

Not saying the discrepancy is yours, but any ideas why it's there, and why the two units you tested weigh the same down to gram level?

Just noticed...The picture of the i-7 unit tested shows a keyboard cover, and input devices are mentioned as a "pro". The keyboard cover is not mentioned in this review or the one for the i-5 (picture shows no cover). Did your test unit include a keyboard cover? The .65 difference is approx what MS says the keyboard cover weighs.
