Machine learning is a branch of AI that focuses on the development of algorithms and models that allow computers to learn and make predictions or judgements without being explicitly programmed. It entails the development of systems capable of autonomously analysing and interpreting complex data, identifying patterns, and learning from examples or experiences.

Humans create clear instructions for computers to accomplish specific tasks in traditional programming. However, the emphasis in machine learning is on developing algorithms that can learn from data and improve their performance over time. Machine learning algorithms are trained using massive datasets rather than being directly programmed, allowing them to uncover patterns, relationships, and insights on their own.
