The Series X is feeling neglected, but Microsoft hasn't axed future gaming systems. Plans for a new Xbox console are progressing even with the company invested in other platforms. How might the console turn around Microsoft's dwindling hardware sales?

So like is everyone simply waiting for someone to slap one of those high end Ryzen APU's (with the STUNNING iGPU performance!) into a mini-PC and slap a 'Game Console' sticker on it?

LOL!!!

It will be the stream box that they had in development. As they are pushing gamepass it will be just a box dedicated to streaming gamepass. They are also looking at being able to stream games you have purchased (not like PS where you still need the console).

Given that many modern 'Smart' TV's ether come with or can be loaded with Microsoft's and/or Nivdia's 'streaming gaming app' as well as even many Amazon 'FireTV' sticks (and similar devices) the need or requirement of having an actual 'gaming box' at least for some no longer exists.

Coupled with <60FPS (~30 being 'acceptable') and <=1080P (even 720P is 'acceptable') sets the stage for Gaming as a Service that is streamed over the internet to anyone with a fast enough connection to be viable.

However the 'problem' is on the backend. While Netflix can stream nearly countless titles of STATIC content to equally countless customers GAMES on the other hand are NOT STATIC.
