Ubisoft, once a powerhouse in the gaming industry, is expected to face major challenges in 2025. Following a string of missteps and increasing criticism for producing formulaic content, gaming insider Jason Schreier views the company as standing at a critical crossroads.

Finally got around to Valhalla.  Really enjoying it...(especially as it seems to be bug free, which was not the case on release...) but I'd estimate ~15% of the way through and already seeing the  repetitiveness and limitations.  Still, really appreciate the effort they put into the game.  It's fun, for what it is.

QuoteHe described the company as being at a pivotal crossroads, with its fate likely influenced by the performance of Assassin's Creed Shadows. The game's release, already delayed to February 2025, could determine Ubisoft's path forward.

Well, yeah.  That goes for every game produced.  That's how Capitalism pretty much works.

"Following a string of missteps and increasing criticism for producing formulaic content"

Nope... try again

"The overuse of the "Ubisoft formula", defined by repetitive gameplay, cluttered maps and a lack of innovation, has fueled growing dissatisfaction among players"

Nope. This statement is actually laughable, TBH, because the critics (MSM/YTers... IGN, WCCF-NON-TECH, NYT, Ars Technica, ect... you know, the extremely liberal/progressive outlets) strongly supported UbisoFornication so-called MODERN direction/stance at first... until the majority had a final say at the end. 😂

"This frustration is compounded by technical issues, frequent bugs and the inclusion of microtransactions in full-price games."

💯... just to name a few... but definitely this!!!

Now, for all of that is out of the way, until UbisoFornication (and the majority of the gaming industry, especially the MSM) face its TRUE fears... which is just one word... WOKENESS... UbisoFornication will never... EVER... be welcomed again by the majority.

Your schizo, nonsensical post didn't make a point very well. They're afraid of wokeness? Uhh, they're one of the main culprits shoving DEI, ESG bullshit down the general populations throat, and facing the consequences of it. They hire based on checking off the DEI boxes, and not based on skill, and let politics pervade their culture, and their games suffer as a result. End of story.

Are you alright?

WOKENESS is their disease, Alexander!

Bahahaha!!!

We don't need an insider to know that Ubi's last shot will be the AC Shadows.
They won't be saved and to be honest the majority of the customers don't want to.
RIP Ubi you had your chances but you waste them.

A classic case of "Get Woke, Go Broke".

Ubisoft lost all their talent to those DEI hire quotas, and they left out in the cold one of their most significant IP around the same time: Rayman.

Add the loot boxes and NFT fiasco on top of that, and you get why they are suffering right now. It's amazing to think they are doing worse than EA at this point, even when the latter has been doing a lot more unpopular decisions lately.

Seriously, in the last decade, you can resume Ubisoft in three games mostly: Far Cry, Assassins Creed & The Crew.

While I'd agree that the technical issues & microtransactions are mainly to blame your second argument assumes that the overwhelming majority of gamers (or at least those that spend real money on video games) are Caucasians of Western European decent, Male, Homophobic's & with Far Right leaning political beliefs.

The world is filled with an entire spectrum of gamers from all walks of life.

Frankly I grow tired of the protagonist seemingly always being some white dude.
