Samsung's Galaxy S24 FE and the Xiaomi 14T Pro will be going head to head in several markets. They both have flagship features and a price to match, but when it comes down to making a choice between the two phones, it is an easy decision.

a bit more trust?!

China's 小米 (Xiaomi) versus South British Korea's 삼성 (Samsung) ... I prefer neither?!

One reason I nenver choose ANY Xiaomi's products, it may send your information to the Chinese government, if the government wants.

True patriots

Interesting.

US gov. crimes against Americans vs Chinese gov. crimes against Americans.

I think we need a venn diagram here to further illustrate the difference.

Because clearly we don't even know who or what is hurting/terrorizing the American people the most at the moment. Their own government or ones from outside.

You guys make it seem as if the American government can be trusted with privacy.

genuinely asking, why would anyone spend €800 on a phone...? my oneplus 7 pro never lags, camera is more than fine, i changed the battery once when replacing the cracked back panel and it lasts a full day...

Have you ever asked yourself why is iPhone completely allowed and sold in China while Google Pixel phones aren't? Not only that but multiple Apple stores are available in China, none by Google. Do you think that the Chinese government has somehow forgot about Apple? But yes, let's blame only Xiaomi 🙃

If only 800€... But yes, I often ask myself the same question, even for much smaller amounts. It's a damn phone, nothing else, nothing particularly useful in life.

Because App Store China version has accepted Chinese government to examine, but Google not.
And Xiaomi's phone has been checked by NCSC Lithuanian, NCSC told NCC Taiwan, Xiaomi's phones(Sold in Europe)check users input. Source: www.ncc.gov.tw/chinese/news_detail.aspx?site_content_sn=8&sn_f=47018

Hang on there mate

Uhh, Pixel phones are not sold in many regions of the world. I don't think it's something Chinese or privacy specific, it's just is what it is, where they wish to sell their products. iPhone's / Samsung Galaxy's have always traditionally had better global availability. Although things are changing, pixel devices are now being sold in many places in Asia that weren't before, afaik.

I'd easily take the Samsung given the option between the two.

You are too focused on the hardware and not the software. Samsung's software is much better, HyperOS is horrible and annoying to use. There is no way to tell it to stop killing applications.

And Samsung makes it easy to unlock your phone and load custom roms. Xiaomi's unlock requires phoning home and getting their permission and the process is currently broken and doesn't work for many people and hasn't for months.

Having a different choice is good, no? Because in my experience I could say this exact same thing, just flip brands 😀 I find MIUI/HyperOS nothing but rock solid, while Samsung's software is all over the place.

Battery saver at the bottom. Choose No restrictions instead of the default recommended choice (read what it says for the recommended one). It's a bit annoying that you have to do it separately for each app but they won't close anymore after you do that.

Nothing wrong with different choice, but again HyperOS has a ton of issues. I am not saying Samsung is issue free, but it is better than HyperOS.

I've long tried that, it made things slightly better but still doesn't work. It just keeps killing apps. It might be less noticeable on devices with more ram, but I have Samsung, LG and Asus devices which have even less ram that don't kill apps like that.

This has been the case since MIUI and HyperOS made it even worse

They likely do it as a form of upselling and planned obsolescence. Force you to get most expensive version with most ram. Then when time passes and apps grow bigger force you into a new device cause your old one now kills apps.

People have been complaining about the app killing issues for years, yet they do nothing. And with new HyperOS instead of fixing it they make it worse. And then make unlocking much harder so people can't run away.

Both OneUI and HyperOS are unusable for me.

OxygenOS is IMO, currently the best of both worlds. No Xiaomi like app killing, minimal bloatware compared to Samsung.

NothingOS would be my #2 if it came with better hardware.

My number #1 preference would be an alternative to iOS / Android that's more desktopOS like, as all mobileOS suck due to limitations they impose in one form or another.

It's nice to see Huawei move away from android. I hope other OEMs take note and follow a similar path building their own OS as there's only so much you can do being dependent on a Google stack.

There are a few overly expensive Linux-Smartphones.

Huawei is more or less forced because of the US sanctions but already changes its OS so we are not guaranteed permanent good usage value or app compatibility.

See postmarket OS. It tries to get a full linux os on phones, tablets and arm laptops.

The issue of moving away from Android is app support. At best, you are stuck emulating android apps to get an ecosystem going.

Huwaei isn't moving away because they want to, they are doing it cause they have no choice.
