Swytch unveils new affordable e-bike with optional battery upgrades

The Swytch Go e-bike has been announced as a more affordable model. This will be the first electric bicycle from the brand with features like a 250W motor and disc brakes. Plus, customers will be able to choose between three power packs for up to 60 miles (~97 km) assistance range.

'relatively light' for a bike this size (alu frame) is 12Kg, give or take. Light, or very light - around 10kg (still alu frame). Sometimes even with mudguards and disc brakes, e.g. islabikes. And going down in weight you start getting into carbon (weight and pricing).
Where this 16.5 kg, minus battery, minus mudgards and rack comes from - no idea.

I have a fairly light dirt jumper that weighs in at 12.6 kg. No electric motor, no gears, although it has a fairly heavy suspension fork... I don't think 16.5 kg is ridiculously heavy for this Swytch bike, given it has a motor and middle-of-the-road commuter components. Look at the Cowboy ebikes. The Cowboy Classic is a whopping 19 kg, and that's the lightest in the whole range. Granted, that's with the weight of the battery, but still.

The usual elastic or misleading use of that click-bait word "affordable" - and "from" - as in "from €1,200".
It's a very crowded marketplace - thankfully.
Oh - and it has no rack, a razor-blade thin saddle and still no throttle.

This is so disappointing afyer the innovation shown in their kits. There must be 8 companies selling a higher power version of this bike and all are the same or slightly lighter weight. Even the price isn't anything to write home about.
