Wi-Fi 7, aka 802.11be, is still under development. But its completion is within reach. In a few months, the first devices are likely be certified and the exciting question about existing hardware is expected to be clarified.

Means smartphone manufacturers are selling kind of fake wifi 7 devices.

QuoteMulti Link Operation (MLO) is intended to offer further bandwidth and redundancy advantages, and will allow the three radio bands to be interconnected. Devices can thus transmit on several bands simultaneously and distribute their data, which is roughly comparable to carrier aggregation in mobile communications.

This seems more significant than anything else. The National Spectrum Strategy is looking at opening up more bands too, possibly something new for Wi-Fi in there.

Its getting ridiculous.  WiFi7 doesn't offer any tangible benefits.  I'm already getting 10MBs (1MB = 1024 KB) using WiFi5 adapter connected to WiFi6 router.  That's plenty of speed to download movies and stream in 4k!

or for those inflated figures 10MBps = 80mbps!  That's pretty impressive on WiFi5 I don't even need WiFi6 let alone WiFi7!

Speed isn't the main benefit anymore. Latency, reliability, range, and other improvements are. Those are not as easy to quantify and market.

The only legit use for upping the bandwidth to absurd amounts is probably short-range wireless VR.

4k remux weighs from 50 to 90GB - on a 100Mbit/s link, downloading such a volume takes from 1.5 to 3 hours, if there are seeds. For streaming from paid services, this will require a stable channel of 200 Mbit/s, but not 100.

Wi-Fi 5 is quite sufficient with a 3x3 router and 2x2 adapter in a laptop, even with an 80 MHz band.

The problem, as always, lies with the providers.

Wi-Fi7 still does not provide a guaranteed 1Gbps at home if the provider gives you exactly such a link, so the cable from the router to your PC/laptop was the best option at home and remains the same. The slightest obstacles in the path of the 5GHz+ signal and a sharp drop in speed begins even 5-7m from the router. If you need stable 1Gbps for all family members, again Wi-Fi is an extremely unsuccessful system for this. Only Ethernet cables and switches.

Also, do not forget about health - increased spectral energy density, especially in the near field, if the router is located next to the permanent passage paths of the house, is clearly not a safe solution. But the majority of the population does not even think about it, resulting in long-term harm. Not to mention the safety violations with smartphones everywhere in 99.99% of cases of their use. Those. the harm simply adds up to the harm from Wi-Fi at home. We've been in Radio Hell for a long time now.

Lol, imagine "snakes" of endless cables around a house with a 4-6 member family; just casually carrying your laptop from room to room and dragging the cable around - while setting traps around for other family members to trip and fall - because the WiFi connection is 99.8% perfect instead of 100% and those 0.2% are crucial to write an essay for school/college or to watch Netflix while your kids are doing their homework. Makes sense 👍
Also good luck connecting your iPad via ethernet 🙃

Haha, I totally get where you're coming from! The image of dragging cables around and setting "traps" for the whole family is hilarious but also kind of relatable when you're desperate for that flawless connection. Honestly, when you've got assignments to finish and deadlines looming, even 0.2% can feel like a major hurdle – especially if it's for something important like writing an urgent thesis.

Speaking of which, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you're stressed about hitting that deadline, I'd recommend checking out an urgent service like this one: https://essayservice.com/custom-thesis-writing. It could save you a lot of headache and time, especially when every second counts!

By the way, I hope no one actually trips over those cables while you're catching up on Netflix! 😄
