The HyperDrive Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station will shortly arrive in Europe. The device has a range of Thunderbolt 4, USB-A and HDMI ports, with support for an 8K 60 Hz display. The maximum data transfer speed is 40 Gbps via Thunderbolt, and your connected device can charge at up to 96 W.

This is 100% fake for technically illiterate buyers. HDMI 2.1 (max bandwidth is 42Gb/s of useful data)  is not capable of transmitting a lossless 4:4:4 signal even in the poorest 8k@60Hz mode with 24-bit color depth, not to mention 30-bit (HDR) and 36-bit. In this case, we are talking about signal transmission with losses in the DSC compression mode. This should always be emphasized by the authors of the notes, in order to avoid the spread of incorrect information in the crowd of ordinary buyers.

Only a full-fledged Display Port 2.0 (at least with a bandwidth of 48Gb/s of useful data without taking into account the technical overhead on trasmitter level) is capable of outputting a lossless 8k monitor signal in 24 bits.

And of course, it is also not capable of outputting two 6k@60Hz signals in lossless at least 24 bits (not to mention HDR). Because this requires a minimum of 60 Gbit/s of useful data (without technical overhead data) in bandwidth, which is simply not physically available from any TB4.0 port (this will only be possible in TB4.0 v2.0, which was announced in the news from Intel, where the bandwidth is increased to 80Gbit/s, which essentially means full support for the Display Port 2.0 standard). Again, impudent false marketing designed for poorly technically educated buyers.

In fact, this tb 4.0 hub is already morally obsolete, not having time to leave the assembly line. What is the point of investing in it, when in a year everything will change dramatically. Money down the drain...
