A new leak, courtesy of Sudhanshu Ambhore, hints at Xiaomi's upcoming budget tablet, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7. This 8.7-inch tablet could boast a MediaTek processor, 4GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear camera. While expandable storage, Bluetooth 5.3, and Dolby Atmos support are rumored, these details are yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi, likely on July 29.

I like it!  Traditionally 8 inch tablets are known for their weak WiFi signals.  It means gaming on them in a PITA as you're constantly getting disconnected/bad WiFi signals.

Traditionally 8-inches come in 1280x800 resolution. 1340x800 is a mild improvement!

Xiaomi can potentially have a winner on their hand if they designed the tablet to have similar WiFi strength as a 10.1 incher and also employed a nice display screen (never mind the HD resolution if the screen looks gorgeous many ppl including me can and will forgive)!

Finally an 8" tablet.... feels like companies havent made one in eons now..... Outside of the y700 nearly all of them are kinda shiet... Tragically this one meets the same fate being a low end Helio chip w/ a low end display.... We need more tablets w/ 4:3 aspect ratio and 8 or 10" displays.... Ive had 3 generations of tablets w/ 11, 12, 13" now and its pretty stupid to own such a large tablet... There is no IO, performance on android tablets is sluggigsh because companies refuse to put in flagship chips until very recent, and cooling is abysmal... Somehow on such a large body the cooling for android tablets is worse than on phones....

"Tragically this one meets the same fate being a low end Helio chip".  The Helio G99 is NOT shiet.  The benchmark I used was watching someone play Genshin Impact on YouTube using that CPU and look for lag/stutter.  You'll be surprised how many $150 USD tablets are sold on the market today that can't even give you a smooth Genshin Impact experience at low settings!  The game/graphics literally freezes every 2-3 seconds.

Genshin Impact is probably the most resource-demanding mobile game at the moment and probably still for some time to come in the near future.  If your mobile device CAN handle Genshin Impact (which invariably the Helio G99 does a pretty decent job at), then it can handle any game to be made/released in the next few years!

Basically, in short the Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE 8.7 can literally kill the LOW END tablet market if it meets these two criteria:

1. Play Genshin Impact smoothly without lag/stutter every few seconds.  Most $150-$200 USD tablets sold today simply CANNOT handle Genshin Impact smoothly!

2. Wi-Fi signal strength same as a 10.1 inch tablet.  Literally every 8 inch tablet has crap Wi-Fi range and signal strength compared to their 10.1 inch cousin.  Will Xiaomi make the same mistake?  Hopefully NOT!
