Acer Predator Helios 18 2024 laptop review: New hardware for the 18-inch gamer

Hi all.

I hope to bring some useful info here to everybody that is concerned about this issue.

I have a Predator 18, 4090. The machine has Windows 11.

Using Steam VR, Pico4 Headset and Breacher VR game as a test (its a hyper optimized game).

Machine 1 - Predator 18: random stutters. Tried everything, update everything, clean W11 install. Unacceptable stutters here and there. Some CPU Throttling, corrected with more aggressive fan. Stutter comes anyway.

Machine 2 - HP Omen 17 with a 4060. Runs with no issues. Windows 11.

Machine 3 - Predator 17 with a 1070. Runs with no issues. Windows 10.

Machine 4 - Razer Blade 17 with a 3080. Runs with no issues. Windows 10.

Or the Predator 18 is defective or its some program from Acer / bloatware that creates the stuttering.

Very disappointed, especially because I do have an older predator that was fantastic.

I note it has the same mini led panel as 2023. B180QAN01.2 (AUO45A8)


How is the brightness measured different?
2023 was around 350 and 2024 750?
I gather both are SDR
