Early details of the ThinkPad series' return to Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets have surfaced online. Seemingly arriving as the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, the laptop is expected to be one of the first to showcase Qualcomm's long-awaited Apple M3 rival.

Looking to clarify if this is Gen 5 or Gen 6?

I believe the current iteration of the ThinkPad T14s is gen 4 which would make this a leak for the T14s gen 5.

That's not quite correct. It has a 1920x1200 screen - a 1200p display.

Why did they put Ctrl and Fn like all generic laptops. There's a good argument to put them in the way they were originally put different to most other laptops and keyboard. (Hint it is more efficient to have Ctrl closer to keyboard rather than Fn, which is rarely used).
At least they have very similar size so you can reverse them in BIOS.

The Ctrl Fn positions are good for me. If they moved the trackpad buttons down so it would become a touchpad with buttons and display would be 4K Mat IPS or OLED and different display mount. This would be the greatest laptop ever.

Those are TRACKPOINT buttons. How would you use them with the TrackPoint if they were at the bottom?

T16 probably, if they release ARM variant. You won't ever see a 14" laptop with a numpad.

I don't need trackpoint with button but touchpad with buttons. However it's good to have both ;-)

T16 is good and have numpad with better screen, but doesn't have ctrl + fn positioned as this one and the ARM (as you're writing).

It wouldn't be bad to have both, sure, but PPIT how would you fit both on a small 14" device? Everything is already full edge to edge. The one on your image is much larger 15.6" laptop.

Yes it's 15.6" on that image and I would probably buy this size as I find the numpad and bigger screen quite useful. However overall it's not a problem, see Dell 5490 for example:

It was, I agree, but it carries larger footprint than all recent 14" devices. And, well, for that you have to blame people's obsession with 16:10 over 16:9, which led to much shorter palmrest area, just compare the mentioned Dell with the T14s G5 (G6 is probably the same, I'm lazy to check): https://imgur.com/3mB7e9L (5490 blue, T14s grey)

Dell is much larger in all sides despite also being 14". But as the bottom bezel/chin is taller the screen is higher so it's also healthier to look at than at a 16:10 screen, especially neck posture.
