A new Panasonic Lumix GH7 leak claims that the upcoming premium M4/3 camera will be priced at $2,200 in the US. There is also talk of 5.8K open gate video recording and internal ProRes RAW recording, while leaked images reveal a nearly identical body to the outgoing GH6.

It's been gone for a long time. The body price is now higher than before for the GH2 + 14-140 kit. And the weight is 2 times higher for the body. This is no longer a camera, but some kind of ridiculous Frankenstein with poor capabilities at such a price for 2024.

GH1/GH2 really made a breakthrough in 1080p video recording in 2009/2010, then it was already ridiculous starting with GH3 with a sensor change and other unpleasant changes.

The GH6 was already a joke, and the GH7 is an even more idiotic purchase.

What I expect from a camera at this price in 2024 is 8k@60fps with a 300Mbps+ stream (adjustable up to 600Mbps, at a minimum) and the ability to record to an external recorder in 4:4:4 mode. For the subsequent possibility of high-quality post-processing of raw 8k into final 4k@60fps (4:2:0-4:4:4). SoCs made with TSMC's "3nm" process technology, with minimal consumption and at least 2 hours of continuous video recording at 8k@60fps. With an instant response to switching on and a photo series of at least 240 frames in a row in full sensor resolution, with good bright optics and excellent optical stabilization. With excellent SNR in low light. Those. a machine for shooting important moments of life in planned, staged conditions. Modern cameras are no longer suitable for anything else - everything else is filmed on smartphones.

I don't ask for much - that's what people are willing to buy this heavy stuff for today. Those who understand the meaning of such purchases.
