Ford's Model e division is now losing over $100,000 per EV sold. As a result, the carmaker is looking to scale back EV production, according to industry insiders who claim Ford has cut back on battery orders significantly.

Yup, basically traditional companies are not able to keep up, so... they will deflate for sure.

Tesla and Chinese brands will pick up what traditional companies are not able to produce efficiently.

European brands are already making deals with Chinese brands to produce vehicles for them to at least try to not disappear completely in the coming decades.
Heck, even Toyota just struck a deal with a Chinese brand (BYD) to build hybrid cars (Toyota's specialty) for them because BYD builds them more efficiently than themselves.

As for renewable energy... more or less the same thing: things are moving faster and faster, and ever more investments are coming, but it's the Chinese brands that are currently filling the whole that western countries are leaving.
Sad to see that neither the US nor Europe are able to compete.

Ok sure the EU, Japan and US have the same issues. Namely:

- Manufacturing costs
- Supply chain costs
- How Efficient (or NOT!) their actual product is along with the 2 items above.

While many of the issues will eventually get ironed out I have to believe that smaller + lighter + more efficient + less expensive is the future here.

Car production is about scale, you need over 100k, maybe even 200k+ cars on the same platform to make a profit. To date, other than Tesla and the Chinese, most aren't even 50k

Ford couldn't even produce the long running Focus profitably a year. Because it became the only car on that platform and sales weren't enough scale to make a profit
