Hmm so needs a crap ton of rare earths. Sure if price is not a concern and you don't wonder why things are known as "rare" earths then it will be wonderful in 20-40 years when it becomes a thing.

No. The actual amount of rare earth materials is actually minuscule. Today's circuit boards already contain rare earth metals. But the amounts are so small that it is not even being recycled. Only gold is being extracted. It is not like batteries or electric motors that require a lot of the expensive stuff.
