The laptop comes with an 8-core Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU, an RTX 4060, 16 GB of expandable RAM, and 512 GB of replaceable storage. I'm sorry but I find it comical at best that the same/similar GPU's that get scathing reviews for having a mere 8GB of VRAM in desktop cards are praised when similar GPU's and VRAM is in a laptop.

So which is it?

The ROG Zephyrus G14 shown here is surely a great price/deal!

Basically, it's super bad on desktop a lot more because over there stuff like power efficiency, noise and thermals matter less. Whereas on mobile that stuff matters a lot more but even so, it's still pretty meh / average even there and nothing special.

Also, on desktop, you've a choice you can go last gen AMD and get much more vram for equivalent geforce tier graphics card. On laptops, the same choice is non-extent. Radeon dgpu's simply don't exist there which might explain why notebook reviewers don't even bother complaining there as it won't result in any change.

If you need more vram, either pony for a absurdly priced mobile RTX 4080/4090 laptop or just get a desktop.

The question to me is not whether 8 GB of VRAM is enough for a laptop, but why the crappy color for a'flagship' AMD laptop in the US? Have these and the last several generations been on large discount sales so often because you are sitting on high inventory levels? Maybe if they would be available in the same color combinations as their Intel based counterparts (like in the 15"+ and smaller 13" variants) you could increase your profits by not having to put them on sale so much. Please fire the product manager responsible for these white/moonstone/very light silver laptops with keys that are hard to decipher when backlit. Or at least put in dark gray keyboard caps. Or just make them all in the gray case like the reviewers had.
