Carl Pei has commented on the chipset that will power the Nothing Phone (2), a few days after a Geekbench listing of the device surfaced online. Not only has the Nothing CEO confirmed the switch to a flagship chipset, he has also explained the reasoning behind the decision.

Can't wait to see how Nothing phone (2) performs. Still enjoy my Nothing phone (1), but battery drains to quickly - so with the rumoured 5000mah battery and a more efficient chipset, maybe that will improve.
