Even if by 2030 virtually all sales are of electric vehicles, the total of new electricity demand they will add to the global grid would be in the 11%-15% range by 2040. That includes electric cars, buses, or trucks, too, dispelling the myth that the grid won't survive a rapid electrification of global transport.

The problem is the grid is already strained to breaking point, which is why we have off-peak hours, rolling blackouts, etc. So even a few percent more is going to make the situation a lot worse. Then add in the fact modern GPUs use more power on their own than full systems did several years ago, and increasing use due to mining and hotter temperatures, and the grid is going to completely fail in the not too distant future.

QuoteIt will also seemingly only increase in a gradual manner during the next two decades, giving governments and regulatory bodies enough time to plan ahead for the electric car era.

Because governments have shown their incredible planning capabilities so far?
