Apple MacBook Pro 13 with M2 takes Dell XPS 13 Plus with i7-1260P to pieces in benchmark onslaught but at least the x86 laptop looks cooler while getting hotter

Them as in YouTubers or them as in Apple fans? Does that make everyone using an Apple product, that isn't a diehard fan, a poser? What about people with a Windows desktop for their gaming needs and a portable Apple product (Mac or iPad) for their on-the-go needs, because they can access every app they want on those devices?

i wont take a review seriously if its from Max Tech. the biggest apple fan youtuber
its really shame that Notebookcheck is posting based on Max Tech review.

Quote from: Todd on July 05, 2022, 15:58:15If you are just surfing the web and making videos the M1 is great. If you are a DEV and need to compile code you'd better pass, almost any modern x86 processor is better choice. Reducing the instruction set is great, until you need them. The 'fix' or 'port' of the compilers is never coming...You've been warned :)

This makes no sense. Many developers (including myself) have switched to m1 because it a far superior experience than x86 offerings.

Mmm. You wouldn't be buying either of these if you're a gamer.
For better integrated graphics and battery life, ryzen 7 6800u was the better option in x86 space, but dell doesn't offer that. And from what harwareunboxed reviewed, m2 has actually scored better in some games compared to that chip.
That too in the fanless air.

It all comes down to personal tastes and preferences when you're only comparing these two i.e dell laptops and macbooks. Especially when Dell limits itself to intel offerings alone in the xps lineup. Would've made sense in that eternal quad core era made possible by technological stagnancy caused by lack of competition. But not anymore. And ARM is actually a viable option now.

And OLED screens with pwm flickering isn't all that great if you are sensitive to that. I can't even use the latest iphones because of that.

And there are plenty of options in the Windows space. You're buying a dell because you like it. You're finding reasons to justify your purchase, again because you like it.

You could just say that I like Dell, I like the design. And I don't care if others offer better options and specs.
I feel like I have the best experience when I use Dell.

Just like homoeopathy......

Quote from: pR on July 05, 2022, 14:15:4795% of all the notebook reviews (I'm not talking about notebooks thar are build for gamers) are made from the perspective of the gamer, video/photo editor when in reality these heavy users are what... 5% of all the buyers?  Also what I noticed is that most of the reviewers have no taste in design, the best design for them is how tech specs are written.

It's a device with quantifiable specs rather than a piece of art.
For design there are things that actually matter, like the how the airflow is maintained to keep things cool.
In case of a smartphone, most reviews are made with heavy focus on the camera.
Here in case of laptops, especially here on notebookcheck, they actually give an idea about almost everything.
Say, the quality of the screen, whether there is pwm flickering, the response times. Then the thermals and battery life on load.
If the RAM configuration provides the best performance. Or if the performance of the chip is throttled just to make the design look better by compromising the airflow.
All those things actually matter.

What reviewers do is compare something in the same price segment and then tell you if the product actually deserves that much.

I am not sure why you're dissatisfied in general. But for the layman who can't understand more than 'i7 is better than i5 which is better than i3' logic, these reviews help them avoid being cheated. Like someone being brainwashed into buying a kabylake based i7 (or maybe even 10th gen) on clearance sale by some salesperson making them believe that they got some great deal.
And yes, the laptop might indeed be a looker. Great aesthetics that would probably please you.

You should compare the M2 with the i7 1280P, not with the 1260P.
