The new PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSDs by Western Digital may not even remotely be the fastest storage solution on the market, but with their reasonable prices they should make reliable components for your NAS system at home.

Don't worry, though. WD will change the components in it to a 5200 platter without telling you. /s

Not sure who would use these for a home NAS except people with far, far too much money to burn. Those prices aren't good at all, even compared to other SSDs, and certainly compared to platter drives, which are more than sufficient for most NAS use cases, especially in a home.

Just bought a $480 4TB SN700 for small business server use. I think given their endurance these SSDs are in a great position for my use case. I'm willing to pay a bit more per GB and trade speed for endurance.
