Leaked documents have confirmed AMD's plans to equip Socket AM5 processors with integrated GPUs. AMD's next-generation desktop processors are expected to utilise the Zen 4 and RDNA 2 architectures.

Good way  to counter mining, stop selling standalone gpu cards. Customer can upgrade gpu by buying a new AM5 board (hope it will be cheaper than vga card right now).

If you are compiling code, web browsing, and watching videos, but not doing serious gaming, then you might actually want a 12-core CPU, tiny 4 CUs iGPU, and the H.265/AV1 video decoder.

There are other benefits, possibly even if the system has a discrete GPU.

I never understood why AMD was selling cpus without igpus, honestly.

To fit in more cores
To fit in more cache
To consume less space
To consume less power
To generate less heat
To reduce costs

The overwhelming majority of desktop computers don't ever use the iGPU, so the iGPU is in practice dead-weight. And contrary to what a previous comment here by Anonymousgg says, no, there are absolutely no advantages in having a second GPU that you never use. So there are plenty of reasons why AMD left iGPUs only on mobile platforms where they are actually used.
